From mini sheepadoodles to 80-pound standards.
Sheepadoodle coats and colors vary: standard vs mini, black-and-white vs gray-and-white, curly vs wavy. The Old English Sheepdog parent-breed background is on the AKC Old English Sheepdog page.
Standard Sheepadoodles
Full-sized sheepadoodles are large, sturdy dogs with a heavy coat. A full groom is a real workout: full line-brush, extended high-velocity dry, and a scissor or clipper trim that keeps the dog visible under all that hair. Plan on two hours plus.
Mini Sheepadoodles
Mini sheepadoodles usually run 35–55 lbs and are still thick-coated. They get the same methodical brush-out but in a shorter session. Matting happens at the collar, behind the ears and in the leg feathering.
Black & White / Gray & White Patterns
The sheepdog markings are the whole look. We shape the face so the eyes read clearly, keep the white blaze bright, and trim the body so the pattern isn't lost under excess length.
Curly vs Wavy Coats
Curly sheepadoodles mat more and need shorter, more frequent trims. Wavy sheepadoodles can carry a longer shaggy look but still need line-brushing to the skin. Either way, this coat is not low-maintenance.

Joint-aware handling
Large and giant mixes are prone to hip and elbow issues. We use a low, stable table, support the dog on and off, and build in breaks so a big dog isn't standing still for two hours straight.
Heat and summer coat
A thick sheepadoodle coat traps heat fast. We never shave to the skin, but we do take length and density down for summer with a shorter trim and undercoat removal so air can reach the skin safely.
Feathering, feet and winter ice
Long feathering on legs and tails picks up snow, ice and road salt. We keep pads trimmed and leg furnishings tidy in winter so your dog doesn't come inside with ice balls stuck to their feet.
The face and eyes
Sheepadoodle hair grows over the eyes fast. We keep the face open and clean, shape the ears so they don't drag, and remove the hair from the eyes so your dog can actually see — and you can see them.

How often should a sheepadoodle be groomed?
Every 4–6 weeks, with brushing at home 3–4 times a week. A thick sheepadoodle coat can go from manageable to matted in just a couple of skipped weeks.
Should I shave my sheepadoodle in summer?
No — not to the skin. Shaving can damage the coat and remove sun protection. We take length and density down instead, which keeps your dog much cooler than a matted long coat.
How long does grooming a sheepadoodle take?
A standard sheepadoodle in good coat takes about two to two-and-a-half hours. Minis are usually 90 minutes to two hours. We only book one dog at a time, so the whole session is yours.
Do sheepadoodles shed?
Curlier sheepadoodles shed very little but mat easily. Wavier ones with more sheepdog influence shed more seasonally. Regular deshedding baths make a big difference in the house.
