Clementine
3 years old · Kennebunkport
Blenheim red and white with the softest ear feathering on the schedule. Those ears are also the first place mats try to start.
Cavapoos are small, sweet, and built for laps — but their coats still need real maintenance. K-Pup grooms cavapoos one at a time in a quiet mobile trailer at your home, so a little dog never has to deal with a busy salon, a car ride, or a crate.

Generations & Coat Types
F1, F1B and F2 cavapoos can look like completely different dogs. Knowing the generation helps us pick the right brush and blade. The Cavalier side of the family is on the AKC Cavalier King Charles Spaniel page.
The first-generation cross tends to have a soft, wavy fleece that looks easy but mats quickly behind the ears and under the collar. We line-brush to the skin, bathe with conditioner, and keep the length realistic for a small-dog lifestyle.
More poodle means tighter curl and more density. These cavapoos need a 4–6 week schedule and a defined trim length. We hand-scissor the head into a round, soft shape and keep the body short enough that brushing at home is manageable.
Under 15 lbs, these dogs are in and out quickly. We work gently on a low table, keep the session short, and never use a force dryer close to the face. Small dogs get tired fast; we plan the groom around that.
Most cavapoo owners want a soft, rounded puppy cut or teddy bear trim. It's practical, adorable, and keeps the daily brushing to a few minutes. We shape the ears and muzzle so your dog still looks like a cavapoo, not a generic poodle.

Built For Little Dogs
Cavaliers can carry mitral valve disease, and cavapoos can inherit that risk. We keep sessions calm, avoid overexertion, and never stress a small dog. If you tell us about a heart murmur, we adjust pace and breaks accordingly.
Long, drop ears with hair in the canal trap moisture. We clean and dry the ears every groom and remove excess canal hair where appropriate — the single best way to prevent infections in a floppy-eared dog.
Cavapoo faces tear-stain easily. We keep the hair around the eyes short, clean the eye corners, and dry the muzzle so the stain doesn't set into a daily problem.
Silky and wavy hair catches on collars, harnesses and salty coastal wind. We line-brush to the skin every time and will show you the exact spots that mat between appointments — usually behind the ears and inside the front legs.

Services
Gentle brush-out, bath, blow-dry, your chosen puppy or teddy bear trim, face shaping, ear cleaning, nails and sanitary — all in a one-dog session.
Deep conditioning bath, full line-brush, blow-dry and tidy — ideal for keeping a small coat between full trims.
A quick 2–3 week touch-up: eye area, muzzle, pads, feet and sanitary trim. Keeps the face clean and the tangles away.
Our Process
Every cavapoo appointment follows the same order, start to finish, in the trailer in your driveway. Typical appointment time: about 2 hr, one dog at a time.
Cavapoos are small and sensitive, and many are first-time groom puppies. We start slow in the trailer, let the dog find its feet on the table, and keep the whole appointment to one dog.
The soft cavalier-poodle mix coat mats fastest behind the ears, in the ear feathering and at the harness line. We line-brush those areas first and comb the whole coat to the skin.
A mild shampoo with a light conditioner keeps the fine coat soft without weighing it down, plus a tearless face wash for the eye area, which cavapoos are prone to staining.
We dry on lower velocity with warm air — a full-blast dryer overwhelms a small nervous dog — brushing as we go so the wave lifts and the ear feathering separates.
Body set to your preferred length, ears left with some feathering, and a soft round head that keeps the cavalier expression. Feet and sanitary tidied close for easy upkeep.
Nails clipped and ground smooth, ear hair cleared and canals wiped, sanitary and paw pads tidied, then a light coastal-safe spritz. We hand you back a dog you can put straight on the couch.

Fun Facts
We groom a lot of cavapoos, and every one of them reminds us why the breed has such a loyal following. Here's what we love about the cavapoo.
Cavalier King Charles spaniels were lap dogs by design. Cross that with a poodle and you get a dog whose whole job is being near you.
Cavapoos are one of the easiest breeds to groom for kids and seniors alike — very little drama, very few opinions.
Those long silky ears are the prettiest part of the dog and the part that mats fastest. Weekly brushing keeps them flowing.
There's real spaniel in there. A cavapoo will happily do a three-mile beach walk and then sleep for the rest of the day.
Wavy, curly or nearly straight — cavapoo coats vary a lot even within one litter, so grooming plans are individual.
Their calm, people-first wiring makes them common visitors in nursing homes and reading programs.

Cavapoo Grooming FAQ
Every 4–6 weeks for a full groom, with a face and feet tidy every 2–3 weeks. Curly F1B coats lean toward 4 weeks; wavy F1 coats can stretch to 6 if you brush at home 3–4 times a week.
Most owners choose a puppy cut or teddy bear trim at 1/2 to 1 inch. It's easy to brush, comfortable year-round in Maine, and keeps the cute cavapoo face.
It's often the safest option. No car ride, no crate, no other dogs, and the temperature is controlled. We work at your dog's pace and take breaks as needed.
Wavy and curly coats hold shed hair in the wave instead of dropping it. That trapped hair tangles at the skin. The fix is line-brushing to the skin, not just running a brush over the top.
