Maltipoo Dog Grooming.

Maltipoos are tiny, affectionate, and have a coat that tangles the moment it meets a harness. K-Pup grooms maltipoos one at a time in a quiet, climate-controlled mobile trailer at your home — no big dogs, no loud dryers, no waiting around.

Tiny & Fluffy

Maltipoo cuts that work in real life.

Teacup, toy and small maltipoos often have soft, white or cream coats that stain and mat easily. The Maltese parent-breed background is on the AKC Maltese page.

Puppy Cut

The most popular maltipoo trim: one even length all over, usually 1/2 to 3/4 inch, with a rounded head. It's comfortable, easy to brush, and keeps the cute puppy look without the daily upkeep of a long coat.

Teddy Bear Trim

A slightly longer, fuller version of the puppy cut with a rounder head and softer ears. It needs a bit more brushing at home but gives that plush toy look many owners love.

Teacup & Toy Maltipoos

Under 10 lbs, these dogs are handled gently on a low table with short, calm sessions. We never force a tiny dog through a long groom and always work at their pace with breaks.

White & Cream Coat Care

Light coats show staining and tangles immediately. We use a gentle whitening or brightening shampoo, keep the coat dry and clean, and trim the areas that collect moisture and food.

Little Dog Details

The face, the teeth and the tiny trachea.

Tear staining and the eye area

Maltipoo eyes tear easily, and the hair around them stains fast. We keep the eye area short and clean, dry the muzzle, and can recommend a daily wipe routine that actually helps between grooms.

Dental disease prevention

Tiny dogs have crowded mouths and are prone to tartar. We offer anesthesia-free teeth brushing as an add-on. Dental health is one of the best things you can do for a maltipoo's long-term health.

Collar and trachea awareness

Small breeds can have sensitive tracheas. We never use a collar to hold a dog on the table; we use a properly fitted harness loop and support the body. We also recommend harnesses over collars for walks.

Gentle skin and thin coat

Maltipoo skin is thin and can be pink. We don't take them down to the skin, use a low-heat dryer, and keep a protective length so they stay comfortable in sun and wind.

Our Process

How we groom a Maltipoo.

Every maltipoo appointment follows the same order, start to finish, in the trailer in your driveway. Typical appointment time: about 1 hr 45 min, one dog at a time.

  1. Small-dog settle-in

Maltipoos are tiny and frequently nervous. The trailer stays quiet, we go one dog at a time, and we spend the first few minutes just letting the dog get comfortable on the table.

  2. Fine-coat brush out

That silky poodle-maltese coat mats fast and close to the skin, especially around the collar, ears and legs. We comb to the skin gently and clip out anything too tight to work through humanely.

  3. Whitening and tearless bath

A brightening shampoo lifts staining from the white coat, and a tearless facial wash cleans the muzzle and eye corners where maltipoos stain most.

  4. Warm low-velocity dry

Small dogs chill fast and startle easily, so we dry warm and gentle, brushing the coat straight as it dries so it scissors cleanly.

  5. Round puppy trim

The standard maltipoo look here: a short, even body, round teddy head, short clean muzzle so food and tears don't collect, and tidy feet.

  6. Eyes, ears, nails and finish

Eye corners trimmed, ears cleaned, tiny nails clipped and ground smooth, and a light spritz to finish. Most maltipoos are done in well under two hours.

Fun Facts

The best things about maltipoos.

We groom a lot of maltipoos, and every one of them reminds us why the breed has such a loyal following. Here's what we love about the maltipoo.

Maltese royalty

The Maltese has been a lap dog for over two thousand years. Cross it with a poodle and you get a very small dog with very old credentials.

Truly tiny

Most maltipoos land between 5 and 12 pounds, which means gentle handling, warm water and quick, efficient grooms.

Barely sheds

Two low-shedding parents make one of the most allergy-friendly crosses out there — as long as the coat stays brushed out.

Tear stains are normal

Light faces show every tear. A close face trim and daily wipe keeps that area clean between appointments.

Big personality

Maltipoos are confident well past their weight class and will absolutely announce the mail carrier to the whole street.

Teeth need real attention

Small mouths crowd easily. Brushing at home and teeth cleaning add-ons at grooming make a big difference long-term.

Maltipoo Grooming FAQ

Questions maltipoos owners ask us.

How often should a maltipoo be groomed?

Every 4–6 weeks for a full groom, with a face and feet tidy every 2–3 weeks. Their hair grows fast and tangles around the collar and ears, so frequent touch-ups make a big difference.

What is the best haircut for a maltipoo?

Most owners choose a puppy cut at 1/2 to 3/4 inch. It's easy to maintain, comfortable in Maine weather, and keeps the adorable round face.

How do I reduce tear staining on my maltipoo?

Keep the hair around the eyes short and dry, wipe the area daily with a damp cloth, and use a stainless steel or ceramic bowl. Stubborn staining may need a vet check for blocked tear ducts.

Is mobile grooming safe for a tiny maltipoo?

It's often the safest choice. No car ride, no other dogs, no crate, and we control the temperature. We work on a low table and take breaks so your tiny dog never gets overwhelmed.

Where in southern Maine do you groom maltipoos?

We come to you across Kennebunkport, Kennebunk, Cape Porpoise, Goose Rocks Beach, Arundel, Biddeford, Saco, Wells, Ogunquit, York, Old Orchard Beach and Scarborough, from York up through Scarborough.
