Fawn, sturdy and completely food-motivated. Stands like a statue for the deshedding blow-out as long as biscuits keep arriving.
Puggles look low-maintenance and shed like they're being paid for it. A beagle-pug cross has a dense short coat, a face that needs cleaning, and ears built to hold moisture — so a proper deshedding bath matters more than a haircut. K-Pup handles all of it in a cool, quiet trailer in your driveway.

Every Coat, Every Face
Puggles vary a lot depending on which parent they lean toward. For background on the beagle side, see the AKC Beagle breed page.
A puggle coat is short, thick and constantly turning over. A deshedding shampoo and a high-velocity dryer pull out more loose hair in twenty minutes than a month of brushing at home.
Shorter muzzles come with real wrinkles and a nose roll that holds moisture and yeast. We clean and dry every fold and check the skin underneath at each visit.
Longer muzzle, longer ears, more nose. These dogs breathe more easily but their drop ears need consistent cleaning, especially after a summer in the water.
Puggle puppies are easy first clients — short visits, quick baths, good habits. Older puggles often carry weight, so we keep them cool, use non-slip footing and never stand them longer than they want.

Built For Puggles
Puggles shed year round and hard in spring. A deshedding bath, carding and a full blow-out is the single most effective grooming a puggle can get.
Any fold that stays damp turns sore. We wash the folds, dry them completely, and show you a simple two-minute routine to repeat at home.
Drop ears plus Maine humidity plus salt water is a recipe for infections. We clean the canals, dry them thoroughly and flag anything that smells or looks off.
Shorter-muzzled puggles overheat quickly and stress faster. We keep the trailer cool, use warm rather than hot water, and never rush a dog that's working to breathe.
For flat-faced breed health and heat-safety guidance, the AKC Canine Health Foundation has practical, vet-reviewed reading for brachycephalic dogs and their owners.
Services
Deshedding shampoo, carding, complete blow-out, wrinkle and face cleaning, ears, nails and a sanitary tidy.
The core puggle service: deep clean, deshedding treatment, full dry and a coat that stops decorating your couch.
A short visit for wrinkle cleaning, ear cleaning and nails — great on a monthly rhythm between full baths.
Our Process
Every puggle appointment follows the same order, start to finish, in the trailer in your driveway. Typical appointment time: about 1 hr 15 min, one dog at a time.
We go over the coat, folds and ears, look for hot spots or flaking, and check nails and paw pads before the bath.
A deshedding shampoo and conditioner worked right down to the skin and left to sit, which loosens the dense undercoat at the root.
Wrinkles and nose roll washed with a gentle cleanser, ear canals cleaned, then everything dried completely — damp folds are the whole problem.
High-velocity drying to push loose coat out, followed by carding over the body to take out what the dryer released.
Nails clipped and ground smooth, sanitary tidied, a quick coat conditioner, and a cool-down before your dog goes back inside.
This is the full step-by-step process K-Pup Dog Grooming uses for puggles in southern Maine.

Black puggle puppy with beagle ears and a pug's shrug. First groom was fifteen minutes of bath and praise, and she loved it.

Our snoriest regular. Cool trailer, warm water, short session — wrinkles, ears, nails, done, and back to the couch.
Fun Facts
We groom a lot of puggles, and every one of them reminds us why the breed has such a loyal following. Here's what we love about the puggle.
The puggle was one of the first crossbreeds to go mainstream in the early 2000s, and it's still one of the most popular.
They'll track a sandwich crumb across a parking lot and then decide a nap is a better use of the afternoon.
That short coat is deceptively dense. A single deshedding bath removes an alarming — and very satisfying — amount of hair.
The beagle side often lengthens the muzzle, which usually means fewer breathing problems than a purebred pug.
Sturdy, patient and hard to offend. Puggles are one of the easiest crosses to have in a busy household.
Half beagle bay, half pug grumble. Puggle owners know exactly what we mean, and nobody else quite believes it.

Puggle Grooming FAQ
Yes — just not haircuts. A deshedding bath, wrinkle and ear cleaning and nail work every 6–8 weeks keeps the shedding manageable and prevents most skin and ear issues.
The short coat is dense and turns over constantly, and the loose hair works its way straight out. Deshedding treatments with a high-velocity dryer remove it at the source instead of letting it land at home.
Wipe each fold with a gentle, unscented cleanser and — most importantly — dry it completely afterwards. Damp folds, not dirty ones, are what cause the trouble.
With care, yes. We keep the trailer cool, avoid hot air, work in short stretches and watch breathing the whole time. One dog at a time means we can stop the second a dog needs a break.
Puggles usually land in our medium tier with deshedding added. Full pricing lives on our services page, and mobile service includes the drive.
