What drives the price
Size and weight
The single biggest factor. A 12-pound Maltipoo and a 90-pound Bernese are not the same job — more coat, more water, more drying, more time.
Coat type and density
A smooth Dachshund bathes and dries in a fraction of the time a matted doodle takes. Curly and double coats sit at the higher end of every range.
Condition at arrival
Dematting is billed as extra time, $15–$45. A dog brushed at home between appointments consistently pays the low end of the range.
Time since the last groom
Regulars on a four-to-eight week cycle are quicker to groom and priced accordingly. Six months of growth is a different service.
Add-ons you choose
Deshedding $25–$45, teeth brushing $15, flea bath $25, nail grinding $10, and so on — all optional and all quoted before we start.
Not travel
There's no travel surcharge anywhere in our service area, from York up to Scarborough. The driveway is the whole point.

Our standalone nail trims start at $20, bath & brush starts at $45 for a small dog, and full grooms run from $65 for a small dog up to about $170 for a large heavily coated one. A mid-size doodle full groom — the single most common appointment we do — typically lands between $95 and $125. Compared to a salon, mobile grooming generally runs somewhere between ten and thirty percent higher per appointment. What you're buying with that difference is the trailer coming to you, one dog at a time, no crate, no cage dryer, and an appointment that costs you ten minutes instead of two round trips and a four-hour wait. For anxious dogs, seniors, and anyone with more than one dog, the value math usually tips fast.
Prices in York and Cumberland counties also swing seasonally in a way that's worth knowing about: summer is booked solid weeks ahead, and the flexible slots are in the shoulder seasons. Booking a standing appointment locks in your spot and keeps your dog on the low end of the price range, because a well-maintained coat is simply faster to work on.
We quote before we start, always. If we open the door and find something that changes the price — heavy matting, a coat that needs shaving, fleas — you hear the new number and decide, in the driveway, before any work happens.

Our Process
How to keep your bill at the low end
Same order, every appointment, in the trailer in your driveway. Typical visit: Ten minutes a week at home, one dog at a time.
Book on a schedule
Four to eight weeks for growing coats, six to ten for double coats. Regular dogs are faster to groom and never pay dematting time.
Brush the four trouble spots
Behind the ears, armpits, the britches, and under the collar. Those four places account for most of the dematting charges we bill.
Use a comb, not just a slicker
A metal greyhound comb is the honest test — if it won't pass to the skin, the slicker hasn't finished the job and a mat is forming.
Add nail visits between grooms
A $20 nail trim at week four keeps the quick receding and your floors intact, and costs less than fixing overgrown nails later.
Say yes to the shorter cut
A slightly shorter trim buys you an extra week or two before matting starts. On doodles it's the single biggest saving available.
Book the shoulder seasons
Spring and fall have the most availability. July in Kennebunkport does not.

- Why is mobile grooming more expensive than a salon?
- One dog at a time means we do four or five appointments a day instead of ten or twelve, and the trailer has real costs — fuel, water, generator, insurance. Typically it works out ten to thirty percent above salon pricing, in exchange for no travel, no crating and no waiting.
- Is the price per dog or per visit?
- Per dog. If you have two or three dogs at one address we'll do them in the same visit, which saves you time — ask about multi-dog scheduling when you book.
- What if my dog is matted — will the price change?
- Possibly. Dematting adds $15 to $45 in time depending on severity, and a full shave-down is normally just the standard full-groom price for that size. Either way you get the number before we begin, not after.
- Do you take tips?
- They're never expected and always appreciated. Cash, card, or added to the invoice — whatever's easiest.
- How do I pay?
- Card at the door or an invoice by email after the appointment. Payment is due at the time of service.
