The Short, Dense Coat
A Great Dane's coat is short and smooth, but on a body this large it still sheds a surprising amount of hair by sheer volume. A rubber curry brush and a high-velocity dry lift dead hair efficiently across a much bigger surface area than a smaller breed's coat.
Giant-Breed Handling
Great Danes commonly weigh 110 to 175 pounds and stand tall enough to work with at counter height rather than floor height for much of the groom. We're set up specifically for giant breeds — a stable, low-angle ramp and equipment sized for a dog this large, not a small-dog setup stretched to fit.

Nail care matters enormously on a giant frame
Overlong nails change a Great Dane's posture and stride more dramatically than on a smaller dog, adding real strain to joints already carrying a lot of weight. We trim and grind nails carefully and go slowly with dogs unsure about the process, since a giant breed genuinely notices when its footing feels off.
No shave-downs needed
There's rarely a reason to shorten a Great Dane's coat further than it grows naturally. We manage shedding with a curry brush and high-velocity dryer rather than clippers, which keeps the coat's natural short-and-sleek look intact.

Our Process
How we groom a Great Dane.
Every great dane appointment follows the same order, start to finish, in the trailer in your driveway. Typical appointment time: about 1 hr 45 min, one dog at a time.
Giant-breed arrival and assessment
We use a stable, low-angle ramp for a dog this size and check gait, joints and coat condition before beginning, adjusting the plan for any senior or growing-puppy needs.
Deshedding bath
A deshedding shampoo worked across the full body, which takes real time simply due to the surface area involved on a giant breed.
High-velocity curry dry
Warm high-velocity air paired with a rubber curry brush across the entire coat, section by section, to fully dry and deshed a very large dog.
Feet, sanitary and paw care
Feet and sanitary area tidied with scissors, with particular attention to cleaning and drying between those large paw pads.
Careful, unhurried nail trim
Nails trimmed and ground with real patience, since even, short nails meaningfully support a giant breed's posture and joint comfort.
Ears and finish
